Bigtree Bonsai: 9pm
Since their reformation in the fall of 2010, the members of Bigtree Bonsai have all shared a common purpose: To write honest, distinctive and meaningful music. Expect to see a diverse, dynamic and energetic live performance from Bigtree. They will give you anything from down tempo folk, dancing roots and rock, 3 and 4 part harmonies, and hip melodic riffs and vocals. Though not settling on one particular genre, they are slowly creating their own. (site)
Dan Israel: 7pm
“Writing and performing great songs for the last 15 years, Dan Israel is easily one of the Twin Cities’ un-anointed poet laureates, steadfastly making his way into the ranks of local singer/songwriter legends like Paul Westerberg. Whether it’s with a full band or as a solo act, his work contains elements of intimacy and, as he again demonstrates on his new release, “Crosstown Traveler,” an engaging simplicity that makes his deep music accessible to any audience. His performances showcase these same qualities.” – Minneapolis + St. Paul / Secrets of the City (site)
