Javier & The Innocent Sons: 9pm
“Javier & the Innocent Sons: This potent roots music trio from Minneapolis play timeless barrel housing music — with echoes from Appalachian dance parties and Delta fish fries, but projected from the contemporary perspective of songwriter Javier Matos. Their new album is Lost in Loretto.” realdeepblues.blogspot.com (site)
Cooker John with Ben Kaplan and Nick Salisbury: 7pm
Cooker John has opened for John Hartford, Jerry Jeff Walker, Chuck Berry and The Living Spoonful. His album “Larry’s Road Trip,” his first, which came out in 1995, won the Minnesota Music Award for Best New Folk Artist. “Grocery Store” and several other CDs followed, including “Life Down Here,” “School of Life,” “Alive and Alone,” “Live at Dunn Bros.,” and his most recent, “Settle For You.”
John Sagner, known as Cooker John, has been playing original and traditional folk, blues and rhythm and blues for the past forty years. A Cooker John show includes plenty of traditional fingerpicking and slide guitar, along with John’s original material and covers of tunes by JJ. Cale, Ry Cooder, Bob Dylan, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson, Kansas Joe McCoy, Arthur Bell, and others.
